Steingletscher, Susten Pass: sunset photography forecast

The glacier lake below the Steingletscher is the strongest composition on the Susten Pass: meltwater, bare rock and ice within one frame. The pass road is the whole story for access — it is usually shut from November into June, and the drive is full of places that will tempt you to stop.

Light corridor: blocked

Why: Thick cloud along the sun's path is likely to stop the low light.

  • Light path: blocked (61% blocking cloud at the ray's height)
  • Sun: likely hidden. You're above the low cloud (2050 m), but a solid mid-level deck (89%) sits over it; the sun stays screened from above.
